African Drum and Dance in Schools

WHAT CAN WE PROVIDE?

We are approachable and adaptable, and completely dedicated to developing a program that suits the needs and circumstances of your school. With extensive experience working within the school system we understand timetabling and spatial constraints and are more than happy to discuss any ideas or concerns.

  DANCE:

Dance Roots, with a focus on fun, leads students on a journey through African dance. Students learn traditional dances and are educated as to the cultural significance behind the movements. Accompanied by live drumming, the close and integral connection of the drummer and dancer is clearly demonstrated.

  WE PROVIDE PERFORMANCES

We have performed our dances for school groups of up to 600 students. Integrated into our show are explanations as to the nature and source of the dances, as well as audience participation.

WE CAN SUPPORT YOUR OWN SCHOOL PERFORMANCES

Many of the schools in which we have worked have been interested in developing their own student performance, or have included elements of our teachings into a larger performance.

OR, AS OFTEN HAPPENS WE CAN DO THESE THINGS IN A COMBINATION WHICH SUITS YOUR INTESTS AND NEEDS.

We can provide one-off performances, workshops or demonstrations as short as 45 minutes, or we can engage students over the course of a day. We can also provide a series of sessions over a longer period of time. We can support projects on multicultural issues, studies of Africa, or social and tribal dance. We have also provided team building activities for school staff.

Our team includes many skilled and professional artists. We can provide up to a 12-piece dance and drum troupe for performances and workshops.

HOW MUCH DO WE COST?

Our prices are negotiated according to the size of the group, the number of artists we provide and the duration and type of activity.
